In 307 AD, St. Carterius (Karterios in Greek), Domninus, Timothy, Theophilus, Theotimus, Dorotheus the Presbyter, Ephsychius, and Pamphilius, Agathanglus, and Castorus were all martyred in Palestine. St. Carterius is believed to have had his privy members forcubly cut from him and then fed to wild beasts and/or burned at the stake.
May St. Karterios and those who were martyred with him intercede for us!
Synaxarion
Verses
Having his gaze fixed on the fire of Gehenna,
Domninus in no wise feared the fire before him.
Fists slay Timothy and his two fellow athletes,
And God the Word doth render them greater honour.
Dorotheus being to the beasts delivered
Was offered to God as a gift He accepted.
Carterius, deprived of his privy members,
Doth, with Eupsychius, persevere right bravely.
Being cast into the mines, silver-merchant Silvan
Exchangeth the ore for the life everlasting.
Broken by prisons, and before prisons, scrapings,
Let Pamphilus receive a crown that is twofold.
